SR A1A to Heron Isles Parkway – This project includes approximately 2 miles of roadway widening, addition of turn lanes including the replacement of the existing box culvert at Lanceford Creek with a Geosynthetic Reinforced-Soil Integrated Bridge System (GRS-IBS), the first bridge system of this type built in Florida. MAE’s responsibilities included Standard Penetration Test (SPT) borings at the creek crossing, auger borings and bulk soil sampling for the roadway widening, and pavement coring. A Roadway Soils Survey Report was prepared which included recommendations for new pavement construction, pavement milling depth and resurfacing recommendations. All required analysis, including settlement, over-turning and global slope stability was performed for the GRS-IBS.
