The site for the subject project location is bounded to the north by the lease property at 301 San Marco Avenue, to the west by San Marco Avenue, to the south by Hildreth Drive and to the east by the houses along Colony Street. City of St. Augustine, Florida. The project includes performing a geotechnical exploration, laboratory testing program, and engineering analysis to assist the design team with the design of replacing the failing roadway pavement sections, upgrades of the existing gravity sewer system and portable water system and addressing chronic neighborhood flooding and mobility improvements. To explore the subsurface conditions within the areas of the planned stormwater conveyance and new stormwater management system, we located and performed eight (8) Standard Penetration Test (SPT) borings, drilled to a depth of approximately 15 feet below the pavement surface along the roadway, and three (3) Standard Penetration Test (SPT) borings, drilled to a depth of 20 feet below existing ground surface. Six (6) core samples of the existing pavement section (asphalt surface, base course) were also obtained. We also performed quantitative laboratory testing on selected samples of the soils encountered during the field exploration to better define the composition of the soils encountered and to provide data for correlation to their anticipated strength and compressibility characteristics.
