Minimum Qualifications:

Commercial Plans Examiner

Meskel and Associates Engineering (MAE) has an opening in our Private Provider Services Department. MAE is a local leader in Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing and Private Provider.

Summary

The Commercial Plans Examiner is a key role, responsible for performing highly technical reviews of plans for the construction of commercial and industrial buildings (Building, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing). The ideal candidate is a reliable, trustworthy individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment where both collaboration and autonomy are valued.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This position is examining construction plans for commercial and industrial buildings for compliance with applicable building codes. Work requires knowledge of building construction codes and procedures used to analyze proposed construction designs and plans. The work is standardized in that tasks are covered by substantially diversified procedures and specialized standards requiring use of judgment. Knowledge of standard office equipment and standard measuring devices is required. The physical demands are minimal. The work is performed under limited supervision where assignments are subject to established practices and procedures. Prepare reports in a complete and timely manner. Complete daily time and labor reports in accordance with company policy

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)
  • Must be able to read and interpret plans, blueprints and specifications.
  • A State of Florida Commercial Plans Examiners License is required.
  • Ability to read & write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients.
  • Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • State of Florida Electrical Plans Examiners License
  • State of Florida Mechanical Plans Examiners License
  • State of Florida Plumbing Plans Examiners License
  • State of Florida Commercial Building Plans Examiners License

CEI Inspector

Job Description (Full Time):

We are seeking skilled and motivated CEI Inspectors to join our team. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and proactive, has a strong sense of responsibility and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of bridge and/or roadway construction projects
  • Ensure compliance with project plans and specifications
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, materials, and work progress
  • Communicate effectively with Senior Inspector, Project Administrator, and construction team
  • Identify any construction deficiencies or issues

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 2 years of experience in construction inspection, with at least 1 year of experience in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection

Preferred Certifications:

  • CTQP Asphalt Paving Levels I and II
  • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
  • CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level I
  • CTQP Final Estimates Level I
  • FDOT Intermediate or Advanced MOT
  • Nuclear Radiation Safety
  • Florida Stormwater

Job Description (Full Time):

We are seeking skilled and motivated CEI Senior Inspectors to join our team. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and proactive, has strong leadership skills, a strong sense of responsibility and the commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of bridge and/or roadway construction projects
  • Ensure compliance with project plans and specifications
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, materials, and work progress
  • Communicate effectively with inspection staff, Project Administrator, and construction team
  • Resolve field issues by working closely with inspection staff, construction team, and Project Administrator
  • Coordinate and guide the inspection team

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 4 years of CEI experience in roadway and/or bridge construction

Required Certifications:

  • CTQP Asphalt Paving Levels I and II
  • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Levels I and II
  • CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level I
  • CTQP Final Estimates Level I
  • FDOT Intermediate or Advanced MOT
  • Nuclear Radiation Safety
  • Florida Stormwater
