Construction Services Manager
MAE is seeking a proven leader to manage and grow our Construction Services Division throughout Northeast Florida and the surrounding region.
The Construction Services Manager will provide leadership for our construction materials testing, special inspections, and field services operations while serving as a key contributor to MAE’s continued growth. The successful candidate will help shape the future of the division by developing opportunities, mentoring staff, strengthening client partnerships, and expanding MAE’s presence throughout the marketplace.
Job Responsibilities
Lead Business Growth
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors, developers, owners, architects, engineers, and public agencies.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Ten or more years of experience in construction services, construction materials testing, inspections, consulting engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive B2B sales and business development experience, preferably in the AEC or consulting engineering industry.
- Strong understanding of consultative or solution-based selling.
- Demonstrated success in new client acquisition and revenue generation within complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Proven ability to develop client relationships and contribute to business growth.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated success leading teams and managing operations.
- Experience managing budgets, operational performance, and business objectives.
- A Professional Engineer license is NOT required for this position. However, if an engineer, a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university and the ability to obtain Florida licensure within six months of hire is expected.

Drilling Department Manager
Project Budgets & Department Performance
- Help develop drilling project budgets with the Department Director and Project Managers.
- Assist with preparing drilling proposals and cost estimates.
- Manage drilling work to meet project budgets and schedules.
- Work with the Project Controls Analyst to review project costs, labor hours, equipment use, and budget performance.
- Identify and address problems that are causing projects to run over budget or behind schedule.
- Communicate changes in scope, field conditions, delays, or other issues that may affect project cost or schedule promptly.
- Manage staffing, overtime, equipment use, and other department costs.
- Assist with planning for staffing, equipment, maintenance, and future equipment needs.
Staff Management
- Train, coach, and evaluate drilling staff and assist with hiring and other personnel decisions.
- Manage the overall drilling department and supervise the Drilling Department Assistant and drilling crews.
- Set priorities and expectations for the Drilling Department Assistant, who coordinates daily crew activities, project layout, and field support.
- Promote safe work practices, accountability, teamwork, and professionalism.
Field Operations
- Oversee daily drilling operations and make sure crews have the information, equipment, and resources needed to complete their work.
- Monitor crew productivity, schedules, equipment problems, and field conditions.
- Identify and address project risks that could affect safety, cost, schedule, or quality.
- Ensure drilling work meets company quality standards and project requirements.
- Resolve problems affecting safety, budget, schedule, quality, or client satisfaction.
- Work closely with the Drilling Department Assistant, Project Managers, field crews, and geotechnical staff to keep projects running smoothly.
- Remain responsible for the overall performance of drilling operations, including work delegated to the Drilling Department Assistant.
Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in geotechnical drilling; supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of geotechnical drilling methods, equipment, tooling, and field operations.
- Experience supervising drilling crews and coordinating multiple projects and schedules.
- Strong understanding of drilling equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and safe operation.
- Ability to read project plans, boring locations, and site information and coordinate field layout.
- Understanding of project budgets, cost estimating, labor and equipment costs, and productivity.
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to maintaining safe field operations.
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to adjust quickly to changing field conditions and priorities.

Senior Driller - Geotechnical
Job Description (Full Time):
Growing geotechnical engineering business with healthy backlog of challenging projects needs experienced driller to lead 2 and 3-man crews for field subsurface explorations. Must be experienced with auger drilling, mud rotary drilling, and diamond bit coring techniques. In-situ testing techniques will include Standard Penetration Testing (SPT), Field Permeability Testing and collection of undisturbed samples using Shelby tube and piston samplers. Work also includes installation of instrumentation, piezometers and monitor wells.
What We’re Looking For
- Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
- In charge of two or three-person crews on sites with potentially variable site surface conditions requiring borings up to depths of approximately 150 feet.
- Assists in the location of exploration points, including confirming with the Project Engineer that all points have been cleared by utility companies as safe for exploration.
- Drives medium duty straight trucks to various job sites. Operates and drives 4WD truck-mounted and all-terrain vehicle-mounted drill rigs.
- Previous experience operating a geotechnical or environmental drilling rig preferred.
- Experience with soil sampling, SPT, rock coring, and/or subsurface investigations preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot equipment.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, pulling, pushing, and working around heavy equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a field team.
- Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
