| MAE’s work supported improvements for an existing observation tower consisting of construction of an upper observation deck. The project was located within the southwestern area of the Pinecastle Bombing and Gunnery Range (Ocala National Forest). MAE’s work included Standard Penetration Test (SPT) borings, grouting, test pit exploration, and pile integrity testing of existing tower foundations, laboratory testing including percent fines, natural moisture content, and Atterberg limits, and preliminary site potential sinkhole evaluation was provided. Design recommendations were provided for shallow and deep foundations. |
