The investigation focused on the collection of sediment, surface water and elutriate samples and performance of laboratory analyses, with supporting field measurements. The data collected represents background conditions in the Arlington River-Pottsburg Creek tributary for the time period examined. The purpose of the sampling program was to establish the background river bottom sediment and surface water quality data to assist in the acquisition of permits necessary to dredge the channel. The sampling locations corresponded with previously conducted geotechnical exploration points at the site. The area of investigation was limited to the river channel south and west of the University Boulevard Bridge, and extending approximately 4,500 feet west to the mouth of the Arlington River.
