This project will include the widening of the existing roadway and construction of a stormwater retention pond.  MAE’s scope of work included: 20 auger borings drilled adjacent to the existing roadway, alternating left and right of the roadway centerline, to evaluate the shallow subsurface conditions for the planned pavement widening; Standard Penetration Test (SPT) borings drilled within the area of the proposed stormwater pond to explore for suitable soils for use as subgrade fill; pavement cores located on the existing roadway to observe and measure the thickness of the existing asphalt surface and underlying base layers, and to observe the subgrade soils. Our report included evaluation of the encountered subsurface conditions, preliminary design recommendations for pavement, pipeline and manhole support, and preliminary site preparation and earthwork recommendations.
